CVE-2025-52937

Undefined behavior via pre-buffer pointer decrement

Published Jun 23, 2025 · Updated Jun 23, 2025

Pointer-arithmetic flaw in Point Cloud Library using bundled zlib allows local users to trigger undefined behavior in big-endian CRC processing. The bundled openNURBS crc32_big() routine decrements its input pointer before the allocated buffer and then pre-increments it while reading words. Reachability requires a big-endian execution path and attacker-influenced data; affected builds are before 1.14.0, or 1.14.0 and later with WITH_SYSTEM_ZLIB=FALSE.
