CVE-2025-5277Network attack vector

Host command execution via crafted MCP prompt

Published May 28, 2025 · Updated May 28, 2025

Command injection in Alexei Ledenev AWS MCP Server before 1.3.0 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary host commands via a crafted prompt. The CLI executor passes model-supplied AWS CLI text, including shell metacharacters and pipelines, to a shell without effective validation. Execution occurs when an MCP client accesses the malicious prompt; commands inherit the server process's host access and configured AWS credentials.
