Unauthenticated root access via substring route matching
Published Dec 19, 2025 · Updated Dec 19, 2025
Authentication bypass in Linksys E9450-SG 1.2.00.052 allows remote attackers on the local network to access administrative functions. The httpd do_cmd_cgi handler uses substring matching, so a /LOGIN/ prefix skips authentication while an embedded /API/obj route reaches protected handlers. The management interface is not internet-accessible by default, but a local-network attacker needs no credentials and can enable unauthenticated Telnet for root shell access.
