Stored XSS via HTML-interpreted JSON response

Published Nov 20, 2025 · Updated Nov 20, 2025

Stored XSS in inventory-retrieve.php in Revive Adserver 5 through 5.5.2 and 6 through 6.0.1 allows remote authenticated users to run JavaScript. The script manually serializes stored campaign names as JSON but omits application/json, so browsers treat direct responses as HTML and execute embedded markup. A manager must plant the name and persuade a logged-in administrator to open a crafted URL; HttpOnly cookies remain unreadable, limiting the resulting disruption.
