Process-memory disclosure via unchecked overlay buffer length
Published Dec 16, 2025 · Updated Dec 16, 2025
Out-of-bounds read in Grassroots DICOM GDCM 3.024 allows local users to disclose process memory via a crafted DICOM file. Overlay::GrabOverlayFromPixelData derives its end pointer from overlay dimensions instead of the Pixel Data value's actual byte length, so its loop reads beyond the source buffer. The file must reach a GDCM image-reading path that extracts overlays; the over-read can expose sensitive process memory and terminate the process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
