CVE-2025-52568Public exploit

Memory and disk corruption via unchecked image parameters

Published Jun 24, 2025 · Updated Jun 24, 2025

Memory-safety flaws in NeKernel before 0.0.3 allow attackers to corrupt memory and disk images through crafted mkfs.hefs arguments. The utility copies an attacker-controlled volume label into BootNode::volumeName without bounding the copy and accepts unchecked numeric layout values that can overflow or exceed the image size. Reaching the flaws requires control of mkfs.hefs inputs; exploitation can crash the formatter, corrupt its output image, or execute code in the formatter process.
