Administrative session hijacking via unescaped category name
Published Mar 2, 2026 · Updated Mar 2, 2026
Stored XSS in Chamilo LMS before 1.11.30 allows remote authenticated users to hijack administrative sessions via a crafted category name. SessionManager::create_category_session applies database-string escaping but no HTML or event-attribute neutralization before storage, and add_many_sessions_to_category.php renders the stored value without output encoding. Administrative access is required to plant the payload, and another privileged user's visit triggers script execution in that user's browser context.
