CVE-2025-52464Network attack vector

Message decryption via duplicated low-entropy keypairs

Published Jun 19, 2025 · Updated Jun 23, 2025

Insufficient entropy in Meshtastic Firmware before 2.6.11 allows remote attackers to decrypt captured Direct Messages. CryptoEngine::generateKeyPair generated Curve25519 keys without first initializing and stirring the RNG, while some vendor flashing workflows cloned existing keypairs. Exploitation requires capture of mesh traffic and possession of a matching compromised key; configured remote-admin keys also permit administrator impersonation.
