Spreadsheet formula execution via unsanitized JSON values
Published Aug 13, 2025 · Updated Aug 13, 2025
CSV formula injection in CycloneDX Sunshine 0.9 allows remote attackers to embed spreadsheet formulas through a crafted JSON file. Sunshine copies untrusted component values, including version fields, into CSV cells without neutralizing formula-leading characters. Execution requires a user to export and open the CSV in spreadsheet software and permit its prompts, executing the formula in that user's spreadsheet context.
