Authenticated root command execution via unsanitized ping host
Published Jul 15, 2025 · Updated Jul 15, 2025
Command injection in Nexxt Solutions NCM-X1800 Mesh Router firmware UV1.2.7 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute root commands. The /web/um_ping_set.cgi handler passes the unsanitized Ping_host_text value from its ping and traceroute interface into an underlying system command, so shell separators inject additional commands. Access to the web management interface and valid credentials are required; successful exploitation runs attacker-supplied shell commands as root and can compromise the router.
