Session hijacking via unescaped page subtitles
Published Sep 22, 2025 · Updated Jul 5, 2026
Stored XSS in PivotX CMS 3.0.0 RC 3 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript through a crafted page subtitle. The PagesFlat savePage() path serializes the subtitle without server-side filtering, and frontend templates render it into HTML without output encoding. A normal user must publish the page and another user must view it; the script runs in the viewer's session context and can expose session cookies or perform actions with that viewer's privileges.
