Privilege escalation via hardcoded credential-encryption keys
Published Aug 22, 2025 · Updated Aug 26, 2025
Credential exposure in PDQ SmartDeploy before 3.0.2046 allows attackers to decrypt privileged credentials from deployment data. SDCommon.dll's SmartDeploy.Common.Security.Encryption routines apply hardcoded universal AES keys to stored ciphertext, allowing recovered blobs to be decrypted. Access to readable registry values or deployment files can expose local administrator, domain, or application credentials.
