Authenticated code execution via unbounded share_name copy
Published Jul 15, 2025 · Updated Jul 15, 2025
Stack overflow in NETGEAR XR300 1.0.3.38_10.3.30 allows remote authenticated users to execute code via a crafted HTTP request. The usb_device.cgi handler sub_B7350 copies the user-controlled share_name value, accepted at up to 2,048 bytes, into the 32-byte stack buffer v50 with unbounded strcpy. Valid HTTP Basic credentials and network access to the router interface are required; overwriting the return address permits control of program execution.
