Stored script execution via unsanitized category captions
Published Aug 26, 2025 · Updated Aug 26, 2025
Stored XSS in the NotesCMS categories route allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript through a crafted category caption. The Add_Action and Edit_Action methods in application/core/controller/categories.php persist the POST caption value without stripping HTML tags, and category views later render it as executable markup. No authentication is required by the published vector, but a victim must view the affected category page; execution occurs in that viewer's browser context.
