CVE-2025-5203Public exploit

Process crash via premature pointer dereference

Published May 26, 2025 · Updated May 28, 2025

Out-of-bounds read in Assimp 5.4.3 allows local users to crash a consuming process by importing a malformed CSM model file. The SkipSpaces template in assimp/include/assimp/ParsingUtils.h dereferences the input pointer in its loop condition before checking it against the end pointer. Low-privilege local access is sufficient; the demonstrated consequence is a one-byte heap over-read and process abort, with no reported data disclosure or code execution.
