Stored script execution via unencoded presentation fields
Published Aug 20, 2025 · Updated Aug 20, 2025
Stored XSS in XWiki 17.3.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript in visitors' browsers. The Presentation section stores HTTP Meta Info, Footer Copyright, and Footer Version values and renders them on public pages without output encoding or sanitization. Administrative access is required to plant a payload; any subsequent visitor can trigger it, exposing browser-session data and actions available to that visitor.
