Sensitive-data disclosure via unencrypted SQLite databases
Published May 25, 2025 · Updated May 28, 2025
Cleartext storage in PhonePe App 25.03.21.0 for Android allows local users to read authentication tokens and financial data. The app writes access and refresh tokens, identity and KYC fields, and banking details without encryption to user_info.db, phonepe_core, and AthenaDatabase. Reading the private database directory requires rooted device access, after which exposed tokens can be replayed and financial records disclosed.
