Curator privilege escalation via missing group scope check
Published Jul 22, 2025 · Updated Jul 22, 2025
Authorization bypass in Onyx Enterprise Edition 0.27.0 allows remote authenticated users to modify arbitrary user groups via PATCH requests. The update_user_group function retrieves a caller-supplied group ID but never checks whether the curator is assigned to manage that group. Curator access is required; exploitation can change group membership and expose restricted data or functionality.
