Authenticated command execution via unvalidated password
Published May 25, 2025 · Updated May 29, 2025
Command injection in seven Netcore appliance models running firmware 20250508 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute commands. In routerd, passwd_set accepts pwd without validation and interpolates it into a uci command passed to system() after a successful root password change. A valid ubus session is required, and exploitation changes the root password before arbitrary commands run with appliance privileges.
