CVE-2025-5138Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Script execution via uploaded PDF

Published May 25, 2025 · Updated Jun 20, 2025

Stored script execution in the PDF handler in Bitwarden 2.25.0 and 2.25.1 allows remote authenticated users to run PDF JavaScript. The public demonstration uploads a JavaScript-bearing PDF and shows Chrome's built-in PDF viewer executing it, rather than identifying an unsafe operation in Bitwarden code. The claim requires an authenticated file upload and a recipient opening the PDF, and community analysis says the test used Vaultwarden 1.24.0 and showed intended viewer behavior, so impact on Bitwarden Password Manager remains disputed.
