Root command execution via unsanitized CGI query
Published Jun 2, 2025 · Updated Jun 2, 2025
Command injection in DivioTec professional-series IP cameras through 2.0170.3030 allows remote attackers to execute commands through a web request. The camctrl.cgi Bash script passes unsanitized QUERY_STRING data into sed, allowing shell metacharacters to alter the executed command. Authentication gates the endpoint, but embedded default credentials provide access; commands run as apache, which can invoke sudo without a password and reach root.
