Process memory corruption via oversized STATUS command
Published May 23, 2025 · Updated May 23, 2025
Buffer overflow in the STATUS handler in FreeFloat FTP Server 1.0 allows remote attackers to corrupt the server process's memory. The handler copies an oversized STATUS argument into a fixed-size buffer without enforcing the destination boundary. No authentication or user interaction is required; exploitation can interrupt the FTP service or alter process execution.
