Service interruption via unbounded timeZone stack copy
Published Jul 24, 2025 · Updated Jul 5, 2026
Stack-based buffer overflow in Tenda AC8 v4 firmware 16.03.34.06 allows remote attackers to interrupt service via an HTTP POST request. The fromSetSysTime handler accepts timeType=sync, then passes the unbounded timeZone value to strcpy for copying into a stack buffer. No authentication or user interaction is required, and the documented consequence is limited to service interruption rather than data disclosure or modification.
