Unauthenticated database disclosure via unsanitized search parameter
Published Aug 27, 2025 · Updated Aug 27, 2025
SQL injection in NodeBB 4.3.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to extract database data through the public search-categories API. The endpoint inserts the unsanitized search parameter into a PostgreSQL WHERE or HAVING expression, where injected predicates and error-producing casts execute as SQL. No authentication or user interaction is required; the published proof demonstrates boolean-based inference and database-error disclosure, not command execution.
