Reflected script execution via unescaped DNS parameters
Published Aug 26, 2025 · Updated Aug 27, 2025
Reflected XSS in IPFire 2.29 dns.cgi allows remote attackers to execute script in an administrator's browser through a crafted request. The handler renders NAMESERVER, REMARK, and TLS_HOSTNAME values in the DNS form without neutralizing HTML metacharacters. A victim must open the crafted request; injected script then runs in the trusted interface origin and can read or change browser-accessible data.
