Service interruption via unreleased DlgCreate8 allocation
Published Oct 23, 2025 · Updated Oct 23, 2025
Memory leak in FontForge 20230101 and earlier allows remote attackers to interrupt service via a crafted font file opened by a user. DlgCreate8 retains a 40-byte string allocated by vsmprintf when _ReadSplineFont reports malformed input, rather than releasing it after constructing the error dialog. Opening the crafted file is required; repeated triggering accumulates unreleased memory and eventually interrupts the FontForge process.
