Vendor account takeover via unrestricted credential guessing
Published Jul 31, 2025 · Updated Jul 5, 2026
Missing rate limiting in CS-Cart 4.18.3 allows remote attackers to take over vendor accounts through automated credential guessing. The vendor.php endpoint accepts unlimited password attempts without CAPTCHA, rate limiting, or account lockout, enabling systematic username and password trials. Exploitation requires guessing valid vendor credentials and grants unauthorized access to that vendor account; broader downstream impact is not established.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
