Script execution via innerHTML search reflection
Published Aug 13, 2025 · Updated Aug 13, 2025
Reflected XSS in OSGeo SpatialReference.org before 2025-05-17 allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript through a crafted search URL. The /ref/ page assigns the search query parameter to the searched_text element with innerHTML, causing browser interpretation instead of text rendering. Exploitation requires a victim to open the crafted URL; injected script runs in the site's origin and can read or alter browser-accessible session data.
