Local privilege escalation via writable privileged uninstaller
Published Aug 7, 2025 · Updated Aug 8, 2025
Incorrect permissions in Lighthouse Data GPMAW 14.2 allow local users to gain administrative privileges through a replaced uninstaller. The installer grants the Everyone group full control over C:\Program Files\gpmaw, allowing GPsetup64_17028.exe and other executables to be replaced. Exploitation requires local user-level access and subsequent execution of the replaced uninstaller by an administrator, which runs attacker-controlled code with administrative privileges.
