Authenticated sender impersonation via unchecked from identifier
Published Aug 4, 2025 · Updated Aug 15, 2025
Authorization bypass in SOGo Webmail 5.6.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to send messages as other users. The email-sending request accepts a user-controlled from identifier without verifying that the authenticated account may use that sender identity. A valid account and network access are required; the supplier disputes the CVE, stating that SMTP server policy, rather than a mail client, must prevent sender spoofing.
