Local privilege escalation via use-after-free
Published Aug 12, 2025 · Updated Feb 13, 2026
Use-after-free in Microsoft Desktop Window Manager allows local users with existing access to elevate privileges on affected Windows builds. Microsoft identifies the component and memory-lifetime error but has not published the object, function, or operation that frees and later reuses the memory. Successful exploitation requires local low-privilege access and can yield high-privilege control affecting data and service availability.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
