CVE-2025-50122Public exploit

Root access via MAC-derived predictable password

Published Jul 11, 2025 · Updated Nov 3, 2025

Weak root-password generation in Schneider Electric EcoStruxure IT Data Center Expert 8.3 and earlier allows attackers to gain root access. Code in ttgio.jar seeds a double-encryption and mixing routine with the appliance MAC address while reusing static keys and initialization vectors. Attackers need installation or upgrade artifacts and the MAC address, which an unauthenticated endpoint exposes on network-reachable versions, to derive the credential and obtain root SSH access.
