Browser script execution via unescaped SAML RelayState

Published Oct 27, 2025 · Updated Oct 27, 2025

Cross-site scripting in OpenVPN Access Server 2.14.0 through 2.14.3 allows remote attackers to inject browser script through SAML RelayState. The SAML Authentication module accepts attacker-controlled RelayState content from a configured ACS endpoint and renders it without neutralizing JavaScript or HTML. Exploitation requires control of a configured ACS endpoint and executes script in the browser context of a user completing SAML authentication, exposing or modifying data accessible to that web session.
