Service crash via unchecked XPath evaluation result
Published Jun 16, 2025 · Updated Jul 7, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in libxml2 2.10.0 through 2.14.4 allows remote attackers to crash applications via crafted Schematron XML. In xmlSchematronFormatReport, a failed xmlXPathCompiledEval call returns NULL, but the result's type is dereferenced without a check. Reachability requires validation of attacker-supplied XML with a Schematron value-of expression; the bounded consequence is process termination.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
