Privilege escalation via injectable system stored procedures
Published Aug 12, 2025 · Updated Feb 13, 2026
SQL injection in Microsoft SQL Server 2016 SP3, 2017, 2019, and 2022 allows remote authenticated users to gain elevated privileges. Certain system stored procedures fail to neutralize special SQL elements before executing statements in an elevated context. Access to an affected stored procedure is required, and successful injection executes arbitrary code with elevated database privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
