Script execution via refactoring author reassignment
Published Jun 13, 2025 · Updated Jun 13, 2025
Privilege escalation in affected XWiki Platform releases allows remote authenticated users to execute stored scripts through link refactoring. DefaultReferenceUpdater saved rewritten links with the refactoring user's effective authorship, causing rights checks to grant that user's script or programming rights to attacker-edited page objects. Exploitation requires edit rights, a crafted link, and a higher-privileged user to rename or move its target; successful execution can read or alter application data and interrupt the service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
