Stored XSS via raw Mustache message rendering
Published Jun 12, 2025 · Updated Jun 12, 2025
Stored XSS in StarCitizen.tools Citizen 2.31.0 through 3.3.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute script through system messages. The TypeaheadPlaceholder.mustache template uses unescaped triple-brace interpolation for citizen-search-noresults-title and citizen-search-noresults-desc, inserting their values as raw HTML into the DOM. Access to edit either interface message is required, and the payload runs when a search produces no results and displays the modified message.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
