Remote code execution via unvalidated ZIP extraction
Published Jun 10, 2025 · Updated Jun 11, 2025
Arbitrary file upload in Axle Themes Axle Demo Importer 1.0.3 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to upload PHP files. The demo import page extracts an uploaded ZIP archive into the web-accessible wp-content/uploads/axle-demo-importer-tmp directory without rejecting executable file types. Author-level access and the upload_files capability are sufficient to place and invoke a PHP web shell, enabling arbitrary server commands.
