CVE-2025-4952

Service interruption via unprotected registry replacement

Published Oct 31, 2025 · Updated Oct 31, 2025

Incorrect registry protection in ESET security products for Windows allows local users with high privileges to alter configuration or stop startup. The HIPS support module fails to protect product registry entries from modification through the Windows NtRestoreKey and NtReplaceKey APIs. Exploitation requires high local privileges, and service interruption occurs after the altered entries prevent correct startup following a system restart.
