Observable timing discrepancies in Apache Portable Runtime Utility 1.2.0 through 1.6.3 allow remote attackers to infer password data. The apr_password_validate() function compares supplied passwords and computed hashes without constant-time operations, exposing input-dependent response timing. The side channel is most exposed on platforms without crypt(), including Windows and Android; network jitter creates practical barriers to extracting secrets remotely.
