FTP account compromise via unlimited login attempts
Published Jun 12, 2025 · Updated Jun 13, 2025
Improper authentication-attempt restriction in SICK Media Server all versions allows remote attackers to brute-force FTP passwords. The FTP login mechanism accepts repeated authentication attempts without throttling or account lockout, enabling systematic password guessing. Network reachability to the FTP service is the only reported gate; a successful password guess compromises the targeted FTP account.
