Process crash via unchecked missing field name
Published Jun 3, 2025 · Updated Jun 3, 2025
Uncaught exception in Multer 1.4.4-lts.1 through 2.0.0 allows remote attackers to crash a Node.js process via a nameless file upload. The file-event handler in lib/make-middleware.js forwards a missing field name without validation, allowing later processing to read the length of an undefined value. Exploitation requires a network-reachable multipart upload route and interrupts the hosting application until its Node.js process restarts.
