Hidden thread-title disclosure via search response oracle
Published Jun 2, 2025 · Updated Jun 2, 2025
Information disclosure in MyBB before 1.8.39 allows remote attackers to infer hidden thread titles through search responses. Internal queries in inc/functions_search.php omit the thread-visibility predicate, and differing redirect behavior reveals whether a title search matched. Exploitation requires search access and general access to the containing forum; it reveals title existence but not post content or other protected data.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
