CVE-2025-48938Network attack vector

Command execution via unchecked browser URL paths

Published May 30, 2025 · Updated May 30, 2025

Trust-boundary violation in GitHub go-gh before 2.12.1 allows remote attackers to execute commands via a malicious GitHub Enterprise Server response. Browser.Browse passes every supplied URL to an OS-specific launcher without rejecting local file paths, directories, executables, or unsupported schemes. Exploitation requires a user to run a browser-capable GitHub CLI command against an attacker-controlled GitHub Enterprise Server, after which an existing local executable runs with that user's privileges.
