Sensitive-data disclosure via cleartext process memory
Published May 28, 2025 · Updated Jul 1, 2025
Cleartext storage in the TeleMessage service through 2025-05-05 allows attackers to read credentials, chat logs, and encryption keys from memory. The Java archive server retains HTTP request bodies and archived messages unencrypted in its heap instead of clearing or protecting them. Access requires a separate avenue to process memory; in the reported attack, an unauthenticated Spring Boot heap-dump endpoint exposed a live snapshot.
