Persistent XSS via unsanitized data attributes
Published Jun 26, 2025 · Updated Jun 26, 2025
Persistent XSS in Drupal Toc.js before 3.2.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript through crafted data attributes. The module insufficiently sanitizes data attributes in permitted HTML before client-side table-of-contents generation processes them. Exploitation requires a role allowed to enter HTML tags with the relevant attributes through another module, and injected script persists for visitors.
