Program crash via unbounded convict ID input
Published May 18, 2025 · Updated May 19, 2025
Buffer overflow in Code Projects Police Station Management System 1.0 allows local users to crash the program via an oversized convict ID. The criminal::display function passes the convict ID to gets(), which writes without bounds checking into the fixed 10-byte N buffer. Reaching the Display Record menu requires the application login, and the published proof of concept demonstrates an access-violation crash rather than code execution.
