CVE-2025-48738Network attack vector

Email flooding via unlimited password reset requests

Published May 23, 2025 · Updated May 23, 2025

Email flooding in StrangeBee TheHive allows remote attackers to exhaust mailbox and SMTP resources through password reset requests. The unauthenticated password reset API accepts repeated requests without limits and generates an email for each request. No account session or user interaction is required; sustained requests can fill targeted mailboxes, overload the outbound SMTP queue, and damage the sender's reputation.
