Device reboot via undersized BLE checksum packet
Published Jun 20, 2025 · Updated Jun 23, 2025
Out-of-bounds read in COROS PACE 3 3.1008.0 and earlier allows physically proximate attackers to reboot the watch via a crafted BLE message. The ble_protocol_cmd_receive function subtracts three from a two-byte packet length, underflowing data_size to 0xFFFFFFFF and causing calculate_checksum to read beyond the buffer until a data abort occurs. An unauthenticated attacker must be within Bluetooth range; exploitation interrupts an active recording and deletes its unsaved activity data.
