Local privilege escalation via permission restoration bypass
Published Jun 1, 2026 · Updated Jun 1, 2026
Permissions bypass in Android 14 through 16-qpr2 allows local users to regain revoked app permissions without user interaction. The Framework path handling clearApplicationUserData restores default or role-granted permissions even when an app clears its own data. A locally installed app needs no additional execution privileges, and the restored grants override the user's prior permission choices.
